Richard Monk

Head of Air Command Design at the Royal Air Force

I worked for nearly a decade in the advertising industry, working closely with clients to deliver successful campaigns based on insightful media strategies for brands such as Puma, Lexus, and Dove.


I was always interested in the beauty of design and how to use visuals to tell more powerful stories, so I enrolled at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where I studied Graphic Design. I emerged full of ideas and with a love of design, and beauty, and all things visual, taking inspiration from the world of art to the world of the everyday and everything in between.


Now, as a creative leader, designer and brand specialist, I’m redefining the way that the Royal Air Force thinks about communication through design and storytelling. I am the head of the RAF's in-house design studio and the RAF's brand guardian.


I have led high-profile campaigns that are world-class examples of the RAF brand at its best, including my work with the Red Arrows. This kind of impact can take a leap of faith, but I’m persuading non-believers to believe, one soul at a time.

Certified Brand Specialist and Strategist

I am a Level C graduate, having been trained and certified personally by world-renowned branding expert Marty Neumeier.
